Starting in September 2025, and led by Tim Swingler this group will focus on the short story form though we may veer into novellas and excerpts from longer works of fiction. Participants should try to source a copy of ‘The New Picador Book of Contemporary Irish Fiction’ (ed. Dermot Bolger). Although this text is no longer ‘new’ as such, used copies are available on AbeBooks and elsewhere. The stories we choose are likely to be featured in other anthologies too so having the aforementioned text will not be essential. Irish writers provide an extremely rich source of reading, but we will also be including Annie Proulx, Alice Monro, John Cheever and Raymond Carver.
