Bridge Group - leader: Barbara Herring
This is a relaxed and friendly group with the aim of learning to play and improve our bridge. We meet twice every week, in person on Thursdays in the cafe at Limestone View in Settle and online using Realbridge every Monday. For Thursday sessions we gather from 9.45am for a 10am start finishing at 11.45am and on Mondays we log on at 10.00am for a 10.15am start usually finishing by noon.
Duplicate bridge is played in the hope that those wishing to join Settle Bridge Club will gain the confidence to deal with the more formal atmosphere of the club.
It is useful but not essential if members wishing to join the group have played “kitchen” bridge or whist previously. Those without any knowledge of whist or bridge are welcome, particularly early in the U3A year - i.e. in September or October.
The group’s preferred means of communication is by email but if this is not possible, we can provide printed information, but that may be delayed. Computers are essential for Realbridge and also useful for accessing the addictive No fear bridge website where group members have a six week free trial followed by a reduction of 25% on the annual fee.
Anyone thinking of joining the Group should contact Barbara Herring
